TRIP TO OLD AGE HOME BY PAKHI SAINI

During my summer vacations I visited Vanprastha Ashram, an old age home situated at Bakrawala, Nangloi as a part of my project work. This ashram is a part of  Shiv Shakti Dham which is spread across 22 acres.  The ashram provides free food and medical facilities to all the inmates. Elderly people in the age group of 55-70 years are eligible to become a member of this ashram. Two people share one room. The room is very neat and clean with all the basic infrastructure like bed, almirah, television, furnished kitchen, puja room, cooler etc. In the morning after having bed tea they all head to yajna shala for performing yajna. After having their breakfast, they go to the meditation centre for meditation. They eat their lunch at 1:00pm. After resting for a few hours, they perform puja in the evening at a temple situated within premises of the ashram. I interviewed 2 ladies at the ashram.
